65th Cannes Film Festival’s Star-Studded Opening Ceremony

The South of France is a little more fabulous today (May 16), as the 65th Cannes Film Festival held its opening ceremony this afternoon. And there were hordes of famous faces crowding around the Palais des Festivals ahead of the much-loved cinematic event. Actresses like Eva Longoria, Jessica Chastain, Freida Pinto, Jane Fonda, Diane Kruger, and Tilda Swinton were all gussied up and camera-ready as they walked around the arrivals area. Singer Lana Del Rey and supermodel Eva Herzigova also made appearances. Representing the fellas were Alec Baldwin (with fiance Hilaria Thomas), Chris Pine, Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Ewan McGregor, and Bill Murray.

With the kickoff of the 65th Cannes Film Festival, the members of the illustrious jury were in the house for the Feature Film Jury Photocall today (May 16). Ewan McGregor looked distinguished in his dark suit/white shirt/printed tie getup as he posed for the cameras at the Palais des Festivals. Additionally, “National Treasure: Book of Secrets” babe Diane Kruger had the crowd’s attention thanks to her side-laced maroon dress teamed with black peep-toed heels. Other jury members in attendance were Jean-Paul Gaultier, Andrea Arnold, Alexander Payne, and Raoul Peck.

Stepping out for a promotional appearance, Ewan McGregor and Emily Blunt were spotted at the premiere of “Salmon Fishing in the Yemen” in London, England today (April 10). The “Moulin Rouge” stud and the “Adjustment Bureau” babe both looked to be in good spirits as they posed for the press outside the Odeon Kensington venue. “Salmon Fishing in the Yemen” is a film adaptation of the Paul Torday novel about a rich sheik who dreams of bringing the sport of fly fishing to his desert country. Ewan plays a fishery expert who signs on for the project and falls in love with the Sheik’s representative, played by Emily.

Dressed up and looking fine, Ewan McGregor attended the annual Golden Globe Awards on Sunday (January 15). Joined by his lovely wife, Eve Mavrakis, the Scottish actor hit the buzzing red carpet jsut before heading inside The Beverly Hilton Hotel to tend to his presenter duties. During a quick interview on the carpet, McGregor opened up about his “Beginners” co-star, Christopher Plummer, who ended up taking home the Golden Globe for best supporting actor.
