65th Cannes Film Festival’s Star-Studded Opening Ceremony

The South of France is a little more fabulous today (May 16), as the 65th Cannes Film Festival held its opening ceremony this afternoon. And there were hordes of famous faces crowding around the Palais des Festivals ahead of the much-loved cinematic event. Actresses like Eva Longoria, Jessica Chastain, Freida Pinto, Jane Fonda, Diane Kruger, and Tilda Swinton were all gussied up and camera-ready as they walked around the arrivals area. Singer Lana Del Rey and supermodel Eva Herzigova also made appearances. Representing the fellas were Alec Baldwin (with fiance Hilaria Thomas), Chris Pine, Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Ewan McGregor, and Bill Murray.

With the Fantastic Four, X-Men and the endless Spider-Man sequels, you'd be forgiven for thinking that the Hollywood suits are obsessed with movies inspired by their ongoing childhood. Well, here comes one more!... The Avengers' is Marvel Comics' somewhat novel way to combine all their heroes in one epic tale. A movie in which Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and others all unite to fight crime is now in pre-production, and the Hulk is currently planned to be there as well.

He was at TIFF for Leaves of Grass. And the word on him is that he can be difficult, surly, temperamental. But aside from Colin Firth, Edward Norton was the most well liked during the festival. Polite, considerate, he charmed everyone, he had time for fans, he was obliging, he never complained, he was patient, he was articulate, Michelle interviewed him at the junket and left with a crush - he has a sexy geek vibe about him that is incredibly attractive - and she was not alone.

Ready for an extravagant and joyful weekend, Salma Hayek and Francois Henri Pinault were spotted with their daughter Valentia in Venice, Italy on Friday (April 24). With Salma toting around a masquerade mask, the happy family was out for a pre-wedding dinner party amongst some of their closest friends and family members. Of the upcoming nuptials (which will be the second celebration for the couple), Salma previously told People magazine, I think a wedding is about love, friends, family and fun." Making for quite the star-studded affair, celebrities in town for the festivities include Salma's ex, Edward Norton, as well as Woody Harrelson, Olivier Martinez and magician David Blaine.
