Beverly Hills was rife with famous faces, as the 2011 BAFTA Britannia Awards came to town last night (November 30). Beautiful babes like Felicity Jones, Helen Mirren, Helena Bonham Carter, Andrea Riseborough, Teri Polo, and Christine Taylor all made appearances at the Beverly HIlton Hotel for the swanky shindig. As for the gents, Anton Yelchin, Ben Stiller, and Robin Williams added some masculine energy to the mix. During the event, Helena Bonham Carter was recognized as the British Artist of the Year, meanwhile David Yates received the John Schlesinger Britannia Award for Excellence in Directing. Stiller nabbed the Charlie Chaplin Britannia Award for Excellence in Comedy, and Warren Beatty was honored with the Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Film.

Even celebrities need a tune-up every now and then. And this past Friday Robin Williams underwent heart surgery to replace his aortic valve. The Dead Poets Society" actor is said to be resting comfortably following the procedure that, according to his doctor, went quite well. Dr. A. Mark Gillinov told press, Mr. Williams' operation went extremely well, and we expect him to make a full recovery. The 3-1/2-hour heart surgery was conducted to replace his aortic valve, repair his mitral valve and correct his irregular heart beat." The good doctor continued, His heart is strong, and he will have normal heart function in the coming weeks with no limitations on what he'll be able to do. A couple of hours after surgery, he was entertaining the medical team and making us all laugh." Robin was very complimentary of the doctors involved, saying, The professionals at the University of Miami Hospital and ultimately at the Cleveland Clinic were all fantastic. I can't thank them enough for their kindness and dedication while I was in their care. I must also thank all the people who have expressed their love and concern for me. I have been deeply touched by their support."

After having to suddenly cancel a couple of dates of his "Weapons of Destruction" tour, a source says that Robin Williams is being treated in the intensive care unit at a Miami hospital for heart trouble. Robin announced in a press release that doctors are evaluating him and recommended a week of rest. He was initially experiencing shortness of breath. The funny man had been scheduled to perform Wednesday and Thursday at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida; Friday at the UFC Arena in Orlando; and Saturday at the Sundome in Tampa. The shows are being rescheduled. We wish Robin a speedy recovery.
