Reports coming out of the US suggest Beyonce Knowles and Jay Z have asked Oprah Winfrey to be their daughters godmother, which is a pretty good choice if you ask us. We wouldn’t mind having one of the richest most powerful women in the world as our godmother, would you? So how about the godfather? Kanye West? Er, not quite. Apparently the superstar couple opted for Jay Z’s business partner Tyrone Smith. Ever since her talk show came to an end, Oprah Winfrey has been putting her time to good use, and today (December 12) she was spotted in Haiti with Sean Penn. The chat show queen and the “Mystic River” stud toured the camp that was set up by Penn’s J/P Human Relief Organization to provide assistance to people displaced by the 2010 earthquake. And it seems Oprah’s presence on the Caribbean island caused quite stir, so much so that one Haitian journalist was detained by police for trying to take pictures of Winfrey. Since the earthquake, which claimed 200,000 lives and left millions homeless, Penn’s organization has housed more than 50,000 people on what was once a 9-hole golf course.

Gathering together to honor a few distinct individuals, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences held their 3rd Annual Governors Awards in Los Angeles on Saturday night (November 12). Held at the Hollywood & Highland Grand Ballroom, the yearly event brought out a long list of stars including John Travolta with wife Kelly Preston, Evan Rachel Wood, Alec Baldwin and Maria Shriver. According to a report, a total of seven girls were suspended last week on charges that they sexually harassed their fellow schoolmates. The report also said that several of the girls have been regularly intimidating others into partaking of inappropriate behaviors," and one 15-year-old tried to get her victims to lie to the school's authorities about the incidents. The school sent a letter to the student's parents that read, You have been found guilty of physical contact of a sexual nature with another pupil on campus, harassment, bullying other girls on campus and of being dishonest by not telling investigators the whole truth." Back in 2008, a female worker at the school was accused of sexually abusing 15 students.
